Biden’s Energy Knife Has Several Blades

Texas Turbine Field, 2021

Biden’s high gas prices are helping for Putin’s war

By Larry Fedewa, Ph.D.

(Washington D.C., June 30, 2022) From some observers’ view, the neat thing about the American President’s “kill the American fossil fuel industry” policy is that it cuts several ways. The most obvious is that the ever-rising prices of fossil fuels for our transportation, agriculture, and hospitality industries force Americans to get serious about alternative sources of energy.A

Also, but not least, is that fact that, with the US essentially out of the natural gas market, Russia is now able to finance its war on Ukraine with funds paid for its energy by foreign importers including the United States and its NATO allies – in spite of their official embargo.

A typical NATO scenario was played out during last week’s G7 meeting in Germany. On Wednesday French President Macron proudly announced a late-night agreement by the 27 members of the European Union that paves the way for petrol and diesel-powered cars to be banned from the EU market by 2035, among a host of measures to chart Europe’s course to zero carbon emissions.

Unfortunately, Mr. Macron also bore bad news which he “whispered” to President Biden apparently unaware of the close presence of the press. in front of Mr. Biden. The news was that oil production capacity of the United Arab Emirates was at capacity and Saudi Arabia nearly so. Apparently, Macron was appealing to Biden to resume America’s energy production.

So much for 2035!

While the Biden disciples are pleased with his success in strangling America’s energy output, many others are very critical of his policies. His attempts to blame the industry he is attempting to destroy for the inflation in gasoline prices ring increasingly hallow and self-serving in the minds of the public.

More and more people are beginning to understand that the foundation of our entire economy is fossil fuels – diesel for trucks, trains and ships, gasoline for automobiles, propane for farms, fertilizers for agriculture, and aviation kerosene for airplanes – to name some of the most common uses. No one is against the development and deployment of alternative fuels. As the technology develops so will the use of these elements. But not yet.

The controversial Heartland Institute reports some sobering facts about the US purchases of Russian energy in an analysis of United States Energy Administration data, to wit:

  • America sends Russia $74 Million per day for oil imports or $2.22 billion per month.
  • America imported 24 percent more oil from Russia in 2021 than in 2020.
  • 36 percent of Russia’s government budget comes from oil export revenue.

The bedrock dogma of Biden and his fellow travelers is the danger of Global Warming. This evolution of nature, they believe, threatens the entire planet and the survival of all who currently dwell on it. It would be like an Ice Age in reverse. Instead of arable land being lost under tons of ice, it would be lost under expanding oceans, burning heat and impossible conditions for human survival.

There are only two problems with this prediction: 1) no actions of human beings have been proven to affect the weather in any way; and 2) there is no evidence that there have been any changes in earth’s rotating weather patterns which have not been recorded in the past. Records show that over time the weather has entered into mildly distinct cycles. In other words, there is no science to prove that the bedrock dogma is anything more than a pipe dream.Of course, the true believers will dispute this conclusion, but objective, level-headed climatologists have long ago proven that these fantasies are matters of faith, not reason.

So, we come back to the USA in 2022. We are currently helping to finance Russia’s latest war of expansion, bound to be followed if successful, by more such battles in the pattern of Adolph Hitler in the 1930’s. Add China’s similar adventures in the Pacific theater and the scope of America’s danger begins to take shape.

If we don’t change our energy policies in time, we face the slow disintegration of the US economy, accompanied by defeat in a war in which we will have financed the enemy with our own money. 34333

That will be a future far worse than global warming — and far more likely.

The end of America’s Constitutional government

By Larry Fedewa, Ph.D.

(Washington DC, October 12, 2020) Everybody keeps saying, “This is the most important election in our lifetime, if not in American history.” Is this true? Why do we keep hearing this?

The answer to the question is, Yes. It is truly the most important election at least in our lifetime, perhaps in our history with the exception of the election of 1860, which ignited the Civil War.

The reason for this judgement, however, differs for each side of the debate. Biden supporters assert that President Trump is a failed president, whose continuation in office will threaten the future of America. They follow with a series of accusations which are expressed in the context of what an evil person he is, citing mostly statements or tweets he has made, whether actually or allegedly.

Unfortunately, however, it is rather more difficult to determine the actual positions of the Democrat ticket due to the discrepancy on certain issues between Candidate Biden’s shifting support on key questions, such as, fracking and fossil fuel policies, COVID, economic shut-down, packing the Supreme Court, Chinese military aggression, and other issues, as well as different views put forth by surrogates and the DNC.

All of this casts a shadow over Mr. Biden’s claim that he IS the Democrat Party today. However, there seems to be enough evidence to assert that the following outline is reasonably representative of their platform. The underlying issue, however, concerns the Constitution of the United States of America.

The theory of Constitutional Law which characterizes the liberal movement holds that the language of the Constitution itself was developed in the 18th century and should not be taken literally. Rather the Constitution represents the intentions of the Founders and should be adapted to modern problems and issues by following the “spirit” rather than the letter as written.

This approach allows the American judiciary  — at all levels – to rule according to current political trends. Thus, the actual wording of the Constitution is ignored, and issues are resolved on whatever basis a particular court finds appropriate. The following positions advocated by the Democrats in this election are to be understood in this context:

Supreme Court

To effect these changes in law would require Supreme Court approval, because they would overrule the Constitution and become the law of the land. In order for that to happen, the Court would have to be controlled by liberal justices, which it is not at present. Therefore, the Dems would pass a law expanding the number seats on the Court and then appoint known liberals to fill those seats. This is called “packing the Court”.

Electoral College

If elected, the Dems will seek to eliminate the Electoral College in favor of the majority of the popular vote. In effect, New York and California, as the most populous states, would control the federal government. Middle America would cease to exist as a political force in the nation.

The Second Amendment to the Constitution provides for the right of Americans to bear arms, i.e. to own weapons. This right would be overturned by the Democrat-controlled government.

Another restriction imposed by the Constitution is the prohibition of government interference with religion, i.e. freedom of religion. The Dems are of a mind to permit the federal government to  discriminate against citizens on the basis of religious beliefs. Two recent examples are the provision in the Affordable Care Act requiring all employers to provide birth control amenities to employees without regard to the religious beliefs of the employer. Another case in point is the accusation that Judges who belong to the Catholic Church are not fit for office, because of the official Catholic teaching that abortion is a sin.

Beyond Constitutional issues, there are several other planks in the Dems’ platform:

The most significant economic impact of the Democrat agenda is the additional taxes they will assess on the American people. Biden has declared that on his first day in office, he will rescind the Trump Tax, immediately increasing middle class taxes by several hundred dollars, to be followed by a major increase on companies and individuals with incomes and assets (passive income) totaling $300,000 or more. Presumably, this includes retirement funds and other investments which have positive yields.

Foreign policy

The biggest issue in foreign policy is the rapidly mounting evidence that Mr. Biden is guilty of major corruption through billions of dollars advanced from foreign sources, especially China and Russia, to his son, Hunter Biden, and other relatives. This makes him the “Manchurian Candidate”, i.e. an American President controlled by the Chinese Communist party.

Domestic policy – chief concerns in domestic policy are:

  1. Abortion — establishment of unlimited abortions at public expense, including the killing of 9th month fetuses for any reason.
  2. Law enforcement – support for defunding of police departments in favor of social workers.
  3. Energy – commitment to the elimination of fossil fuels by some deadline (varies from 2030 to 2050) with the accompanying loss of millions of jobs, loss of the competition with China – all without any satisfactory substitute technology and based on dubious science.
  4. Federal support of Black Lives Matter, Antifa and other Marxist organizations which were responsible for much of the violence, property destruction and murder in 2020.
  5. Immigration – re-opening of US border to unregulated immigration and government support for these immigrants through welfare, free medical care and education.
  6. Trade – reversion to former trade policies in which US firms paid high tariffs on exported goods and services and charged no tariffs on import from foreign manufacturers.
  7. Health care – re-institution of Obamacare with socialized medicine on the horizon, i.e. complete government control of health care, probably through expansion of Medicare.

Summary – The Biden years would thus lead to complete government control of our lives, permanent economic stagnation, permanent low employment, continual expansion of welfare-dependent population, decline of American quality of life and world standing, and ultimately a world dominated by the Chinese Communist Party.

That is why 2020 is the most important election in American history.

To Never-Trumpers: Now is the time!

Put patriotism before pique

By Larry Fedewa, Ph.D.

(Washington DC, September 20, 2020) The 45th President of the United States is opposed by several identifiable groups of people.

True believers

There are those who believe unquestionably the portrait of an evil man whose character encompasses nearly every sin imaginable, from a “pathological liar” to a greed-driven, narcissistic buffoon, to a Russian spy, and so on. This is the description put forth by the large corporate press, which has its own reasons for what many know is often completely without any factual basis. Keep Reading

Wealth Gap 2020: The destruction of the American dream

Is feudalism our future?

By Larry Fedewa, Ph.D.

(Washington DC, September 12, 2020) The closer the 2020 election comes, the more urgent the necessity for understanding the wealth gap which underlies the entire debate.

The fundamental issue at stake in this election is how America will deal with the fact that the American Dream we all pursue has in fact become unattainable for many Americans. With most national politicians in their 70’s – or even older – the reality is that they simply do not understand that too many Americans today face a gloomy future. They are at a loss to explain why the nightly riots and violence can happen at all let alone why the public officials at least tacitly, and some openly, support such chaos.

What they don’t understand is that there is a great deal of anger in our land, that the traditional mantras of the American ethic just don’t work anymore for a segment of the American population. “Work hard, keep your nose clean, and you too can live the American dream” just isn’t true for these folks, and hasn’t been for a long time. Workers’rights in the 21st century: Unions and Conscious Capitalism

Is there still a place for labor at the table of a “Conscious” company?

By Dr. Larry Fedewa (Revised September 7 2020)

My first experience with a union came when I represented the newsroom’s intention to hold a vote for a union to the publisher of a national weekly newspaper. I had a summer job there after my first year as a high school teacher.

Later, as a training developer, I wrote, produced, and oversaw one of the largest industrial training programs in history for the Railway Labor Executives’ Association (a council of all major rail union presidents). I also executed major projects for the Federal Railroad Administration, AMTRAK, Conrail, and others. Still later, I worked very closely with the National Education Association, the professional teachers’ union in a major joint venture, a national research project, and addresses to two national conventions.

The reason I mention all this background is to establish my position as an ardent supporter of the labor movement. My comments come from a firm commitment to the need for workers to take their place at any table which determines their fate. The purpose of this essay is to explore a possible alliance between unions and “conscious” companies.
